Biography
Mynority, is an emerging music producer, who was born Jose Aguirre, to a family whom he has never met. Growing up in different foster families, he had little structure and companionship, which led to his compulsive behavior and struggle with succeeding in school. This lack of consistency, by moving between foster homes, led to his obsession with routine, and therefore his relationship to sounds and rhythms. Quiet and mostly a loner throughout his youth, Mynority was a misfit and found comfort in music and in drugs. His compulsive drug use eventually led him dropping out of college. Fortuitously for Mynority, though, this time was the most "enlightening and visceral" experience for him as he befriended a homeless man who introduced him to music and beats he had never heard. Jeffrey—an older homeless man and a former saxophone player for a jazz band— met Mynority when he was 18, and was without a home. Though Jeffrey, fell into drugs early in his successful career, his musical zeal continued even though he lived in the streets. The two met when Jeffrey played on the street corner panhandling. "Jeffrey was the first person I met who didn't judge me, or try to figure me out, and who shared the same passion for rhythm, just as I had." Mynority says that though Jeffrey was the one person who had the least, he was the richest man he knew, because there wasn’t a day that went by that he didn’t appreciate being alive. Mynority has oftentimes referred to Jeffrey as the only father figure he really ever had. Unfortunately, the friendship was short-lived, as Mynority found his friend dead from a drug overdose one June morning. While this event was one of Mynority's "most painful experiences," it also became the turning point for him— becoming the force behind him quitting drugs, and returning to his drive of music. Admittedly one who has a short attention span, Mynority has claims this time to have been "abundantly fascinating enough” for him to always want to devise beats and record music. Mynority worked diligently at incorporating old styles, and creating hybrid rhythms that he solicited out as CDs to his fellow musician friends, and eventually agents. Mynority attributes most of his drive and passion to his inner sense of positivity and energy. Unabashed about the struggles of his past, Mynority admits that had it not been for his tough life, he may not have depended on music to alter his moods, or fell into drugs and homelessness which led him on his discovery to jazz, old school, and hip hop music. Regardless of whether his musical interest was at the heart of overcoming a harsh upbringing, or the product of it, he believes that music can always positively alter any person, and put life back in the world.
