Biography
Jessie Lauryn Foutz was born on May 29th, 1988 in Kailua, Hawaii. Jessie found her passion for music at a very young age. She began performing in school plays and singing at school events at the age of 3, but her destiny for success was in the stars before she was born. The name Jessie Lauryn, meaning Wealth and Fame, was given by her mother Jowee Foutz. Jowee knew that her first child would be a star, and as the years grew by, Jessie was there to prove it.
At the age of 5, Jessie's parents divorced and she remembers it clearly. The separation of her parents gave a whole new world to Jessie. Growing up with only one sibling, her younger brother David, Jessie knew that as the eldest child, she had to take on responsibility she never had before. Living two separate lives between her mother Jowee, and father Les, Jessie grew up quickly. Altering days from one house to the next brought a lot of pain and confusion, but being caught in the middle of a divorce introduced Jessie to writing. "Writing is my escape from reality. I can make up stories about how I wish life would be, or I could just write about the truth and the emotions brought from it," says Jessie.
At the age of 14, Jessie and her family moved to somewhere completely opposite of Hawaii, her new home was in Sammamish, Washington. Jessie would come to Seattle to visit her relatives during the holidays, but actually living in the state that rains 9 months of the year was a whole different situation. Coming from the land of rainbows, sunshine, beaches, and the spirit of aloha, Jessie's life was transformed into rain, snow, and no sunlight. Although the weather was bad, that didn’t stop Jessie from doing what she loved. If anything, this was a new opportunity to grow.
Jessie continued her passion for performing by singing at local malls and clubs, performing in school plays such as "Grease", and joining local Seattle Hip Hop teams. Dancing became an even bigger passion for Jessie as she began opening for various artists such as Ludacris, Cassie, and the Backstreet Boys with her team "Potion." Although Jessie spent a lot of her time in the dance studio, she never forgot about her love for music. Jessie even began playing guitar and singing in her Church group. Her natural ability to play guitar and piano came by ear, since reading music wasn’t her thing. She even began writing her own music and songs which she was inspired from artists such as Christina Aguilera, Brandy, TLC, India Arie, Musiq Soulchild, Michael and Janet Jackson, and many more. Her biggest success in Seattle was singing the National Anthem at the Seahawks Stadium for her high school graduation.
After graduating high school in 2006, Jessie knew it was time for a change. She worked as a Barista through the rest of the year to earn enough to follow her dreams in Hollywood. In January 2007, Jessie moved to Los Angeles, CA by herself; parent free, to live her dreams of being a star. She’s had quite the success in L.A. so far by being signed to one of the world’s top Dance Agencies MSA, which led to backup for artists such as Disney Artist, Drew Seeley, and Asian Production, Van Son. Jessie has also taken a leap in her modeling career with various companies such as Paul Mitchell Hair, Kandy Wrappers Swimwear, and Zumba Fitness.
As of now, Jessie has been recording and writing her own material for her own music project. With the help of her amazing Production team and Jessie drive for success, she knows the future holds nothing but an amazing out come.
"Follow your dreams. There are no limits to life, only the ones we ourselves create. Anything is possible with faith and trust in yourself. Imagine what you want, dream about it, and then live it! Live towards it because dreams really do come true. Ask, Believe, Receive." -Jessie Lauryn
